Balustrade Panels & Handrails

Project Overview
Background
When a Local Authority had an issue with non-conforming balustrades at a two-storey residential block in Oxted, WC Evans & Sons Ltd were called to provide a solution. A cost-effective design and installation was required for the both the stairwells and landing areas to ensure that the building conformed with the latest regulations, whilst disruption to the residents had to be kept to an absolute minimum at all times.
Solution Provided
With over 60 years’ experience of delivering high quality steel fabrication services to local authority clients, the WC Evans & Sons Ltd team were perfectly placed to meet the brief from the client.
Our solution involved removing the existing timber infill rails, leaving the existing support posts in place. We were then able to precision-manufacture new picket style infill panels in a powder coated finish and install them in place of the timber rails. We then manufactured and installed a flat bar handrail to the top of these panels complete with a warm to touch plastic handrail capping.
The end result was a fully compliant, contemporary solution which successfully meets Part K of the current Building Regulations, along with a very happy client!
